My name is Mark and I’m excited to welcome you on the extraordinary journey we’re about to embark on together!
I have spent the past 30 years of my life immersed in the wonderful world of opera, performing as an international tenor in many countries around the world. This has inspired me to establish Iconic Artists, a tour company dedicated to sharing the legacies of the world’s most famous artists.
But let me back up a little… It all began for me many moons ago in the small Welsh mining town of Pontypridd. My mother brought home a Reader’s Digest compilation classical album, an amazing treasure trove of timeless melodies and masterpieces.
I vividly recall the moment when my passion was ignited and I was transported to another world by the mesmerising voice of the legendary Italian tenor, Carlo Bergonzi. It was his rendition of the iconic Act 1 Aria from Puccini’s La Boheme, “Che gelida manina,” that changed something in me. I was hooked! For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the aria, I have included a recording of it here that I made as a young student when studying at ‘The Guildhall School of Music & Drama’ in London.
As the years have passed, my love for the classical arts has deepened, evolving into a strong desire to explore the lives of the great artistic masters who have shaped our world. From the hauntingly beautiful verses of Dante and the symphonic majesty of Beethoven to the groundbreaking artistry of Leonardo da Vinci and the great Impressionist Claude Monet, each one offers a glimpse into the boundless depths of human creativity and expression.
Now I want to share my passion with you; to transport you to destinations like Rome and Paris and ignite the spark of curiosity within you on your journey of discovery. On our Iconic Artists Tours, we’ll explore the brilliance of sculptors like Michelangelo, discover the life of the great tenor Enrico Caruso, explore Da Vinci’s masterpieces, and more.
Iconic Artists is my personal labour of love dedicated to unravelling the mysteries of artistic genius and bringing the timeless beauty of the classical arts to life. It’s more than a business venture to me; it’s a calling, a mission to share the magic that first captured my heart all those years ago.
